DCB Summer Concert Guidelines
1. DRESS: Black shoes, socks,
pants; white Polo-type shirt with collar. A DCB summer polo is
preferred, but an all white polo-type shirt is acceptable if DCB polos
are not available.
Remember sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat when we're playing out in the
sun.
2. EQUIPMENT: You are responsible
for getting your own equipment to the concert site.
Bring your own music, music stand, clothes pins (or similar clips) to hold music in a
breeze, and stand light for evening concerts (battery operated
preferred). Chairs are provided unless you are told otherwise.
Your music folder should be complete according to the summary
list of summer music. If you are not playing the next concert, you need
make all effort to return your folder to the section manager for use by
others at that concert (if needed).
3. SCHEDULES: Our schedules show concert start times. Be there at least ½ hour before the concert time.
4. INDICATING YOUR AVAILABILITY FOR CONCERTS: Get an "Availability Form" from your Section Mgr. or the Personnel Mgr., fill it out, return it to your Section Mgr.
5. PLAYER ASSIGNMENTS: To be done
only by the Section Manager. Do not sign yourself up (in the
"white notebook") unless you have previously coordinated with your
Section Mgr.
The Section Mgr. has the primary responsibility to notify you (in
person, by email, by phone) that you are to play a concert. The
Personnel Mgr. will attempt to email each concert assignment list to the
membership before each concert. (Note, the Personnel Mgr. will not
notify by phone.) If you are not assigned to play, do not show up
expecting to play (although you would certainly be welcome to come and
listen to the concert).
6. REHEARSALS: You should attend every DCB rehearsal to learn any new music. You need to attend the last rehearsal prior to any concert that you will play. We may have only concert players rehearse during the last half of the rehearsal prior to a concert depending on scheduling and available time.
7. SUBSTITUTES: You are responsible to find a substitute for yourself if you are unable to play an assigned concert. Coordinate this with your Section Mgr. and the Personnel Mgr. if at all possible, but most importantly, do get a sub.
8. CONCERT CANCELLATIONS: If you have a question whether or not a concert is cancelled due to something like inclement weather, you can call the DCB's phone center at 303-83MUSIC (303-836-8742) just before you leave. Also, make sure to give your section manager and acting section managers your cell phone number.
