Corrie recently completed a Masters Degree at Denver University in School Administration. She takes over the position of President at the start of her second 2-year board term while continuing as Concert Manager.
John Larson (Vice-President)
John Larson, in his fifth year with the Denver Concert Band, is principal Horn. He also plays with the DCB Show and Tell Band which visits area elementary schools to educate, entertain and excite young students with the wonders of music.
For one week near the end of summer, John joins fifty musicians from around the country in the high-altitude town of Silverton to form the Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band, playing in the style of Sousa.
John has a music education degree from the University of Colorado and a masters degree in computer education from Lesley College. He played with the Air Force Band of the Rockies in Denver from 1968-71. John, a retired Jeffco school teacher, resides in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Owen Herman (Secretary)
Owen joined the percussion section of the DCB in 2005, and begins his first term on the board as secretary. Music has always played an important role in Owen's life. Although he was not a music major, he always found a way to participate in school bands – first at the University of Colorado where he was an Electrical Engineering undergrad, then at Navy OCS as an Officer Candidate, and finally at MIT as a graduate student. He recently returned to his hometown of Denver and is 'semi-retired', which leaves him time to do rewarding things like serve on this board.
Jessica Everts (Marketing Chair)
Jessica has been a DCB member since 2003, and is on her first term on the board. Before coming on the board, she volunteered with Marketing. She's played clarinet since the 5th Grade, and learned to play saxophone, euphonium, and trumpet at Westminster High School. Jessica attended Front Range Community College for an Associates Degree Computer Aided Drafting and Homes Design, with plans to transfer to CU. She married in 1998 and became a mom in 2000 and then again in 2002. She's owner and operator of CCS Inc. a backflow testing company started by her spouse.
Chuck Twomey
(Treasurer)
Charles Twomey joined the DCB in 1971 and plays alto clarinet. He is a graduate of University of Nebraska/Lincoln in Business Administration, and was an accountant for a private warehouse firm for nearly 30 years. Chuck has also been treasurer for the Colorado Mountain Club and the Denver Postcard Club, an office he currently holds. He has traveled to Rapid City, SD to play with the municipal band once each summer for several years. Chuck's interests include cycling, and he has participated in cycling trips in Colorado, Iowa, and Europe. He feels that being treasurer is a chance to give back to the DCB the many years of pleasure he's had playing with the band.
