Denver Concert Band Volunteer Staff
Diana Cable (Librarian)
Diana works directly with the conductor and coordinates a team of volunteers to ensure that each piece of music gets to the musician who needs it during the summer season and for each concert cycle. Her nine years of experience as Food Bank Manager for Colorado AIDS Project has been valuable in our need to restructure our vast music library. Diana joined the DCB in 1989 and is a member of the horn section. She served previously as grant coordinator.
Carol Dreiling (Show and Tell Band Coordinator)
Carol manages the DCB's Show and Tell Band one of our most effective community outreach programs supporting Colorado kids and wind music education. Carol is a retired elementary school teacher. She is a past President of the Board of Directors, joining the band in 1969 (*and* clarinet section manager to boot!).
JoEllen Kopatich (Chairperson for "Young Artist" Competition)
JoEllen runs the Young Artist Scholarship Competition with her spouse Ken. The Young Artist Competition is the DCB's longest-running community outreach program supporting Colorado kids and wind music education. JoEllen is also a retired school teacher and a DCB member since 1973. She plays the alto saxophone.
Linda Alfson (Grocery Gift Certificates)
Linda has taken over the job of ordering and tracking our fund raising grocery gift certificate program (King Soopers and Safeway), which helps the band's bottom line. She's been a member of the trombone section since 2001 and plays bass trombone.
Karen Taylor (Grocery Gift Certificates)
Karen has been a member of the clarinet section since 1981, and has helped keep the band members supplied with grocery gift certificates.
Dona Henry ("Thank You" Notes)
Dona has continued her tradition (over many years) of writing personal "Thank You" notes to our various contributors. Dona has been a member of the flute section since 1987.
Mike McMullen (Marketing - Faxes, E-mails, and Mailing List)
Mike is also recent member of the tuba section, joining the tuba section in 2003. He helps out marketing by sending faxes and e-mails to various media outlets and other interested organizations (totaling almost 100!). He also helps out with additional concert lighting when needed, adding that "professional" touch to our formal performances. With start of the 2005-2006 season, Mike has also taken over the mailing list from founding member Carol Atkins. At times, he'll also help with the various bulk mailings of the marketing publications.
Tricia Schwaller ("Blowhard" Editor - DCB Member Newsletter)
Tricia has been a member of the clarinet section since 2000, and has taken over the duties of the "Blowhard" newsletter as sole editor after the passing of long-time DCB member Joyce Fionda (trombone) in early 2005. She also served on the Board of Directors for the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons as Marketing Chair, and before that served on the marketing committee.
Rich Hruda (Membership Chair)
Rich recently served as a DCB board member for 5 years. He led the big effort to update the DCB bylaws, and stays on top of all membership matters, whether it is new summer members or keeping an eye on concert sign-ups. Rich joined the euphonium section in 1998.
